Rather than celebrating the comic book hero, Silver Surfers Day highlights the benefits the Internet can have for the over-50s. Many people have already discovered those benefits. In August 2007, an Ofcom report revealed that 16 per cent of over-65s are active online, spending a whopping 42 hours a month on the Internet.
